5 Portland Dogs Looking for a New Home

These adorable hounds are looking for the right human companion.

PORTLAND, OR — Family Dogs New Life is a no-kill shelter in Portland that keeps 30-50 dogs at their shelter at any given time. Since 2004, the shelter has found homes for 12,000 adoptable dogs. Family Dogs also shares courtesy postings on their website. People who currently have dogs but are no longer able to care for them will share their notices.

Here are five such dogs looking for a new home today.

Blue is a well-tempered brindle colored Staffordshire mix. She's loyal to her owners and knows basic tricks like sit, stay, off and lay down. Blue loves to go on long walks/runs and play with her tug rope during the day, and snuggle up to her owners at night. The owners have all of her vet records through PetSmart, and a fresh new bag of food treats and toys. She is up to date on all of her shots and was given a clean bill of health through Banfield. Please call Jessica at (360) 773-5975 if you are interested. Jessica is willing to travel throughout the Portland/Vancouver area to find a good home for Blue as soon as possible.

Apple is a four-and-a-half-year-old Border Collie/Lab mix. Her current owners are looking for a new home for her with an experienced dog owner and no small children.

Apple has had private training lessons, puppy socialization and obedience classes at Wonder Puppy. She does well with kids about age 10 and up, is good on leash, great with cats and is submissive and playful with other dogs. She’s crate trained, healthy, up-to-date on her shots, microchipped, and would come with her crate, toys, medical records and food. References from the current owner's vet and doggie day care are also available. Please contact alice.hodge@gmail.com for more information.

Millie is a 21-month-old dog who lives well with cats, but doesn't do great living with other dogs. Millie's favorite things to do include playing outside, playing with toys, snuggling up next to you when you sleep and cuddling on the couch when you watch TV. She's a great fitness partner too since she has a lot of energy. She comes with her own kennel and lots of toys and treats. Please contact Amanda at pandaapples89@icloud.com. She has access to Millie's vaccine history (up to date) and chart history.

Firefox is an 8-year-old collie mix. She gets nervous around little kids. She knows sit, stay, go to bed. She doesn’t like to be on furniture. She likes car rides. She is current on her shots. If interested contact haut21.ht@gmail.com.

Chance is a one-and-a-half-year-old, 50 lb. heeler/pit mix. Chance comes from the Hawaiian Island of Kaua`i. Chance is smart, loyal, and hard working. Chance makes for an excellent running and hiking partner on a leash. Chance is neutered, microchipped, and comes with training sessions from one of Portland’s top trainers.
