Beaverton Library Honors Volunteer

Beaverton man receives honor named for the ultimate volunteer.

Phyllis Davis had tough shoes to fill.

By the time she retired - for a second time - in December 2013, she had logged more than 20,000 hours of volunteer services at the Beaverton Library.

She was 94.

In all, Davis either worked or volunteered at the library for 69 years.

Last year, to forever capture her spirit, the Library created the Phyllis Davis Volunteer Service Honor.

This year the award went to Paul Jeffrey who, according to the library, is known as "hard-working, good-natured, and a joy to work with."
