Car Theft Suspect Shot In Exchange With Portland Police, Deputies
A Portland Police officer was also hospitalized after he was bit by a Clackamas County Sheriff's K9 unit. The suspect was shot twice.

PORTLAND, OR – A man is in the hospital recovering from gunshot wounds after he was shot during an exchange with Portland Police and deputies from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office. The man, who police say had been sitting in a stolen car, is expected to survive.
The incident Friday night started around 8 p.m. when sheriff's deputies noticed a stolen car by the Fred Meyer on 82nd Avenue off of Johnson Creek.

The car eventually crashed by Southeast 89th Avenue and Gray Street. Police say the man jumped out and started running while his passenger – a woman whose name has also not been released – remained in the car.
K9 units from both the sheriff's office and Portland Police Bureau responded to help in the search for the man.

At some point, the man was found, shots were exchanged, and the suspect was hit twice. Police have not yet said whether the man was shot by a Portland officer, Clackamas deputy, or both.
The man was rushed to the hospital.
During the search, a Portland officer was bitten by a K9 from the sheriff's office. He was hospitalized overnight as a precaution.
More information is expected to be released on Saturday.
