Clark County Measles Outbreak Grows, Now 16 Confirmed Cases

The measles outbreak in Clark County. There are now 16 confirmed cases, Of those, 14 had never been immunized.

PORTLAND, OR – The outbreak of measles in Clark County is growing. Health officials announced Thursday that there are now 16 confirmed cases and five more suspected cases.

Of the 16, 14 of them were in people who had never been immunized.

Officials say that 13 of the cases have been in kids one to 10-years-old and the other three were in people 11 to 18-years-old.

One person with a confirmed case of measles has been hospitalized as has one person who is suspected of having measles.

Clark County Public Health wants people to know if they visited any of the following places during certain times, they may have been exposed to measles:

Public Health is requiring exclusion of students and staff without documented immunity to measles from schools, child care and other congregate settings.

Clark County Public Health has set up a hotline for people to call with questions related to the investigation. The number is 360-397-8021 and is staffed from 9 a.m. through 7 p.m. every day.

They also say that anyone who thinks that they may have been exposed and may have symptoms are urged to call their doctor before going so arrangements can be made to minimize the risk to other patients.
