Drunk Driver Hits 2 People In Downtown Portland: Police
Sheldon Scott was allegedly impaired when he jumped the sidewalk and hit two people trying to rent scooters in Portland Monday afternoon.

PORTLAND, OR — While they were trying to rent scooters in downtown Portland Monday afternoon, two people were hit by a driver who then quickly fled the area. The man was later arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants.
Sheldon Lamar Scott, 37, was taken to Multnomah County Jail and charged with DUII, attempted assault, reckless driving, and failure to perform the duties of a driver. His bail is set at $25,000.
Portland Police Bureau Central Precinct officers were reportedly dispatched to Southwest Third Avenue and Southwest Pine Street just after 4 p.m. Aug. 13, following reports that two people were hit by a car while on the sidewalk.

According to the victims, neither of whom sustained serious injuries, they were trying to rent scooters when a silver car jumped the sidewalk, hit them, and took off. A witness to the hit and run reportedly followed the car and helped police locate Scott near Southwest Third Avenue and Southwest Clay Street, about half a mile south of the crash.
Scott was reportedly arrested without incident.
