Eastport Plaza Theaters Went On Lockdown After Man Claimed Gun

People seeing movies at Eastport Plaza Sunday night had drama on and off the screen when police had to deal with a man who said he had a gun

PORTLAND, OR – For people who were at the Century 16 Eastport Plaza Sunday night catching the Aquaman or Spiderverse movies, there was drama on the screen and off. The theaters were placed on lockout briefly.

Portland Police made the call after responding to a report that a man in the area had told dispatchers that he had a gun and was thinking about suicide.

Police sent their Crisis Negotiation and Special Emergency Reactions teams to Eastport Plaza and were able to make contact with the man.

After about one hour, police were able to peacefully take the man into custody and bring him to a local hospital for mental health treatment.

Officials have not yet said if they recovered a gun.
