Here are the top three stories in Portland today:
- The former Mayor of Portland, Sam Adams, has been cleared of any unfavorable behavior after an investigation was launched due to alleged sexual misconduct in the workplace. After almost 10 years of employment, Adam's former assistant filed a complaint against him in 2017. Adams was let go soon after due to a growing number of various complaints made by other staff against him. (KGW 8)
- The Portland Bloom Tour is in full swing downtown! This event is a part walking tour and part art show, featuring 26 large-scale flower installations. A total of 19 local artists and florists participated to create this immersive community experience. (KGW 8)
- A proposal to impose a new tax on county residents in Portland to fund free lawyers for tenants facing eviction was rejected by voters on Tuesday. The measure aimed to create a less than one percent capital gains tax, but did not sit well with various groups and political leaders who argued for alternative funding sources. This comes after concerns about high taxes in the region and the need to address homelessness. (National Review)
