Funding Needed For Portland Teen After Serious Car Crash

The crowdfunding page for Caitlyn Potter asked for a miracle.

PORTLAND, OR -- Funding and miracles are needed for a Portland teen seriously injured after a devastating car crash earlier this month. Caitlyn Potter is at Oregon Health & Science University after having organs removed and bones fractured, according to a fundraising page created for the teen.

Potter, 18, was injured March 16 when the car she drove crashed on Highway 26. Two people died in the two-car crash, according to KGW8.

A loved one, who created the fundraising page on GoGetFunding.com, said Potter was airlifted from the crash scene and taken to the hospital where "every organ in her body suffered damage except for her heart."

"Later Friday night she underwent a second surgery to reattach her neck to her spinal cord," Melinda Potter wrote. "The prognosis was not good we told she would be paralyzed from neck down. To our delight Saturday she moved both of her legs!! Sunday brought another surgery to repair damaged organs. Her spleen and gallbladder were removed, her severed liver was repaired as well as her damaged kidneys. Wednesday brought yet another surgery to repair her broken arm. She has fractured ribs, pelvis, and spine."

Melinda Potter, who said it's a miracle that the teen is alive, said she is undergoing breathing treatments every four hours after a lung collapse.
