Hawthorne Bridge To Close For Movie Shoot This Weekend
Filming for Disney's "Timmy Failure" will require the evening closure of Hawthorne Bridge from 6 p.m. Saturday until after midnight.

PORTLAND, OR — A movie shooting in Portland this weekend will require the temporary Saturday closure of the Hawthorne Bridge. All vehicle lanes and sidewalks will be closed to travel, and the bridge will not open for river traffic for several hours after 6 p.m.
Disney's upcoming film "Timmy Failure" began shooting in Portland in late July. Based on the children's book series by cartoonist Stephan Pastis, creator of the popular "Pearls Before Swine" comic strip, "Timmy Failure," according to IMDb.com, tells the story of an 11-year old boy who believes that he is the best detective in town. In the story, Timmy runs an agency called Total Failures with his best friend, an imaginary 1,200 pound polar bear.
For the shoot this Saturday, the Hawthorne Bridge will be closed from 6 p.m. Sept. 8 until possibly as late as 2 a.m. Sept. 9. Madison Street, the street that crosses the Hawthorne Bridge, will be closed between Southwest First Avenue on the west to Southeast Grand Avenue on the east.

Multnomah County's Board of Commissioners previously approved the filming of "Timmy Failure" after notifying the public, officials said.
TriMet routes that typically use the Hawthorne Bridge will reportedly be diverted to the Morrison Bridge during the closure. Cars, bikes, and pedestrian are advised to detour over either the Morrison or Ross Island bridges.
