How Portland Bars Are Combating Sexual Violence

A nonprofit is certifying any Portland bar that trains its employees on fighting sexual violence.

PORTLAND, OR -- A nonprofit is offering Portland bars the opportunity to become safe spaces against sexual violence and racism.

One Portland, an organization devoted to making the city "a more welcoming, safe, and just community for all who live here," is encouraging business owners to train their employees on violence.

Any businesses can become certified by One Portland if they have at least "75 percent of staff attend the workshops. Sessions are two hours, every six months. A monthly membership fee of $100 goes directly to the social justice organizations," according to a KATU.com report.
