PORTLAND, OR — If you're looking at your calendar and it says Tuesday, January 4 – skiing at Mt. Hood, make other plans. There is no skiing today.

Timberline Lodge, Ski Bowl, and Mt. Hood Meadows all say that they will be closed on Tuesday. The reason? Heavy snow.

The storm that blanketed the area Sunday into Monday continues wreaking havoc. Highway 26 is still impassable meaning even if you wanted to give it a go, there's no practical way to get there.

On Monday, the Northwest Avalanche Center, which monitors conditions throughout the Cascades and other ranges in the area, issued an advisory warning about conditions on Mt. Hood.

"Continued snow and wind will maintain very dangerous avalanche conditions Tuesday," they said.

"Avoid avalanche terrain at upper elevations and don't linger in large runouts. Conditions will likely worsen Tuesday afternoon and night at lower elevations as a new storm with rising snow levels impacts the area."
