- The Japan-America Society of Oregon (JASO) has been helping new Portland Thorns player Hina Sugita adjust to life in the United States. Since signing with the Thorns, Sugita has been closely tied to the JASO non-profit, which has helped smooth the transfer of her career to the United States with translators and English language tutors, as well as by connecting her to authentic Japanese food and setting up hiking trips. JASO even collaborated with other Japanese groups around the city to create a section to cheer for Sugita, selling over 700 tickets total in the three games they've gone to in the past season and a half. - As the A Better Red MAX Extension and Reliability Improvements Project nears completion, its final stages will see a four-month disruption to the MAX Red Line. The project, slated to last from Jun. 18 through Oct. 21, will close stations between Gateway Transit Center and Portland International Airport to allow crews to do necessary construction and renovation work. Shuttle buses will replace trains and serve the closed stations during the interim. (iHeart)
