Kerns-Area Jewelry Store Robbed Tuesday: Police
A masked gunman reportedly held up The Jewelry Buyer on NE Sandy Boulevard Tuesday morning.

PORTLAND, OR — A Kerns-area jewelry shop in Portland was reportedly robbed at gunpoint Tuesday morning, and the suspected robber has so-far escaped arrest.
Portland Police Bureau Central Precinct officers were dispatched just before 10 a.m. Sept. 18 to The Jewelry Buyer, 2034 N.E. Sandy Blvd. Witnesses at the shop told police a man wearing a mask came into the store while holding a handgun and demanded money.
While taking an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry, the suspect reportedly struck the shop's clerk with a hammer before fleeing.

Officers searched the area for the suspect but could not locate him, police said.
The suspect is described as roughly 5-foot-7 or 5-foot-8 with a thin build. During the robbery he was wearing a mask and possessed a hammer and handgun, police said.

The clerk who was hammered did not require a trip to hospital, police said.
