Man Crashes SUV, Ingests Narcotics Before Arrest: Sheriff
Phillip Anderson, of Portland, was arrested in Central Oregon after attempting to flee Deschutes County Sheriff's deputies in La Pine.

LA PINE, OR — Deschutes County deputies last Friday arrested a Portland man who reportedly crashed a stolen SUV during a police chase outside La Pine. Phillip Miles Anderson will be arraigned in Bend this week, sheriff's officials said.
Anderson, 28, is being held at Deschutes County Jail on warrants and multiple charges stemming from Friday's incident, which include possession of heroin and methamphetamine, felon in possession of a firearm, reckless driving and reckless endangering, attempt to elude police, and tampering with evidence.
Anderson's warrants come from both Multnomah and Washington counties, stemming from charges obtained in February and March 2018, respectively, when he was arrested for possession of meth and reckless driving.

According to the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, Anderson was driving a red Ford Expedition allegedly stolen from Gresham when he was spotted traveling at more than 100 mph on Day Road in the La Pine area. Just after 11 a.m. Sept. 28 a Deschutes County deputy tried to stop Anderson, but Anderson chose instead to flee, officials said.
The deputy chased Anderson a short distance before deeming the chase too dangerous as Anderson reportedly entered a residential area at high speeds.

Minutes after the deputy gave up the chase, other deputies located Anderson and the Ford after he'd crashed into a yard at the intersection of Fifth Street and Amber Lane.

Anderson did not immediately exit the crashed SUV, however, and instead initiated a 10-minute stand-off with responding deputies. Negotiators eventually convinced Anderson to give up and he was subsequently arrested without further incident.
After Anderson's arrest, deputies learned he'd consumed narcotics and required hospitalization at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. He was released into custody late Saturday afternoon, sheriff's officials said.
Anderson's criminal history in Oregon extends across multiple counties and mostly includes arrests for possession and/or delivery of both heroin and meth, reckless driving, and attempting to elude police.
This appears to be Anderson's fourth arrest in 2018, the previous three occurring in Multnomah, Washington, and Polk counties.
