Man Who Assaulted Two TSA Officers At PDX Gets Home Detention

"You really want to do this," Tavoloni told the TSA officer right before trying to wrestle her to the ground.

PORTLAND, OR – The man who was convicted of assaulting two officers of the Transportation Security Administration while at Portland International Airport was sentenced on Wednesday. Anthony Tavoloni will spend three months of home detention and three years on probation.

The 45-year-old Tavoloni was arrested at PDX on Aug. 20, 1017.

A TSA officer asked him for his boarding pass and identification.

"No," he said.

So, she asked him again.

"You really want to do this?" he said, walking past her table and toward her.

The officer jumped from her chair and take a step back. "Stop! Stop! Stop!" she yelled.

Tavoloni grabbed her arms and tried wrestling her to the ground.

Several passengers ran to her aid, two of them tried to restrain Tavoloni while others worked on freeing the officer from his grip.

He broke free and found himself with several officers standing standing between him and he officer that he had attacked.

"We're about to have a bad day," Tavoloni said to the officers. "We're about to have a bad day, do you really want to do this?'

A male officer answered him saying, "No one needs to have a bad day."

Tavoloni then lunged at him, striking him in the face.

The other officers quickly tackled Tavoloni, holding him on the ground until Port of Portland Police arrived.

Tavoloni later pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting an officer.
