The future of Portland is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Stella Wang, who are making a positive impact in and around Portland.

Stella, a recent graduate of Jesuit High School in Portland, was named a U.S. Presidential Scholar in 2024, one of the nation’s most prestigious honors for high school students. Stella, one of only two students in Oregon to receive this recognition, also earned the title of National Merit Scholarship winner.

In addition to her academic achievements, Wang interned at Portland State University, conducting research on quantum algorithms in the computer science department. She is also an accomplished artist, having designed and painted a mural in Portland’s Chinatown to support a crime prevention campaign. The Oregon Chinese Coalition awarded her the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2022 for her significant contributions to teaching programs for children of immigrants and migrant workers.
