Moda Center Murder Victim Identified As Markell Jones: Police
Markell Jones was shot and killed as he left the Nick Cannon show at the Moda Center on Friday. Two people he was with were also shot.

PORTLAND, OR – Markell Jones went with some friends to the Moda Center on Friday night to see Nick Cannon's Wild 'n out comedy tour. After the show, the three ended up being rushed to hospitals.
They had been shot. Jones would die at the hospital.
Jones was with a man and woman – their names have not been released but the man is described as an old friend of Jones – when they were shot as they walked along Multnomah Street by Wheeler Avenue. The shooting was witnessed by an officer on patrol who seized a gun from and arrested 36-year-old Robert James. He is charged with murder.
Jones and the other man arrived at one hospital in a car, the woman arrived at another hospital in a private car as well.

Court records indicate that Jones, who had been a 44-year-old father of three and a grandfather, has a record that includes an assault conviction.
Police have not yet spoken about possible motives.
