Multnomah County Sex Offender Sweep Lead To Arrests, Warnings

Over a few weeks, a law enforcement task force contacted hundreds of sex offenders in Multnomah County. There were eight arrests.

PORTLAND, OR – Over the past few weeks, a law enforcement task force in Multnomah County contacted hundreds of registered sex offenders in a compliance check sweep. There were arrests, warnings, and even referrals for prosecution for sex offender violations.

The sweeps were conducted by officials from the Mutnomah County Sheriff's Office, Oregon State Police, and United States Marshals and resulted in contact with 384 registered sex offenders.

There are approximately 4,00o known sex offenders in the county. Officials believe about 30 percent of the are not in compliance with registration rules.
