OHSU-Portland State $104 Million Building Has Groundbreaking
The seven-story, 175,000 square foot building is a partnership between PSU and OHSU along with the city o Portland, with all three using it.
PORTLAND, OR – The shovels were out on Friday at Southwest Fourth and Montgomery. It was the groundbreaking for the new building that's a collaboration among Portland State University, Oregon Health and Sciences University, Portland Community College, and the city of Portland.
All three had representatives at the groundbreaking of the soon to be built 175,000 square foot, seven story building.
It will house PSU’s College of Education; PCC’s Dental Hygiene, Dental Assistant, and Dental Laboratory Assistant programs; the City of Portland’s Bureau of Planning and Sustainability; a dental clinic and low-cost mental health services for the public, and the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health.

It will also be the home to stores and restaurants.

"This is an exciting moment not just for the faculty, students and staff of our school, but for our community members as well," the dean of the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health, Dr. David Bangsberg. "This building will help to produce the state’s next generation of public health leaders.

The building, which is expected to cost $104 million, is scheduled to open in the fall of 2020.
Mayor Ted Wheeler, who was on hand for the ceremony, said that: "This is unlike any other partnership that I have been engaged in,” Wheeler said. "It will connect workforce development, educational and economic opportunity, and it’s going to serve all Portlanders."
