OHSU Protest On Prisoner Work Leads To Three Arrests

The three were attending a marcch and rally against prison slavery.

PORTLAND, OR – A protest and rally against prison slavery leads to three arrests. The protest was called to ask that Oregon Health and Sciences University "end their partnership with Oregon Corrections Enterprise until changes are made in accordance with nationwide prison strike demands.

The three –31-year-old Jacob Bureros, 43-year-old Sherry Motamedia, and 21-year-old Zoe McLain – are all charged in connection with the incident.

The rally and protest were organized by a coalition of groups including Direct Action Alliance, Femmes Strike Back PDX, and OccupyICEPDX.

The rally was held at Elizabeth Carruthers Park.

It was only after the protesters started blocking the entrance to OHSU's Center for Health and Healing that the arrests happened.

One officer was reportedly hit by a thrown bottle of water, according to police.
