Old Shotgun Used In SE Portland Market Robbery: Police

Bobby Spackman, 31, allegedly used a modified Marlin 42 12-gauge shotgun when he held up Stonewalls Market Thursday night.

PORTLAND, OR — Police on Thursday arrested an alleged armed robbery suspect who fired upon a witness who was following him from the market he'd just robbed.

Bobby Allen Spackman, 31, was taken to the Multnomah County Jail on one charge of felony robbery. His bail is set at $250,000.

Portland officers were dispatched to a reported robbery at Stonewalls Market, 7449 S.E. 72nd Ave., just before 6:30 p.m. Jan. 25. A man with a shotgun allegedly held up the market and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

When they arrived, officers learned a witness to the robbery followed the suspect, later identified as Spackman, roughly three blocks west to Southeast 69th Avenue, just north of Southeast Flavel Street.

Spackman, apparently aware he was being followed, turned at shot at the witness with the weapon he was carrying — an old and heavily modified Marlin 42 12-gauge shotgun.

The witness was not injured.

When officers caught up to Spackman, he did not initially comply with their instructions, police said. After talking him down some, police were able to finally take Spackman into custody without further incident.
