Oregon Marijuana Needs One Agency To Oversee Industry Not Three

The Oregon Cannabis Commission thinks that the state needs a new agency to oversee marijuana in the state rather than the three currently.

PORTLAND, OR – While Oregon has been a leader when it comes to marijuana, both recreational and medical, it has fallen short in one key area – developing a streamlined bureaucracy to oversee the industry. That's according to a draft report by the Oregon Cannabis Commission.

The report, which was first reported on by The Statesman Journal of Salem, suggests that the state create one agency to regulate marijuana.

Currently, responsibilities are split among three separate agencies – the Oregon Department of Agriculture, the Oregon Health Authority, and the Oregon Liquor Control Commission.
