Oregon Race For Governor: Brown Gets Endorsement From Rival
Kate Brown was endorsed by Independent Party of Oregon candidate Patrick Starnes as he exited the race, suspending his campaign.

PORTLAND, OR – Kate Brown got an unexpected boost Tuesday in her campaign to get another term as Oregon's governor. One of her rivals dropped out and endorsed her.
Patrick Starnes, the Independent Party of Oregon candidate said that he is suspending his campaign and backing Brown.
The two made the announcement in a joint appearance at KATU News.

Starnes, whose campaign never really gained traction, had focused on the issue of campaign reform.

It's not clear how much the endorsement will help Brown, who is in a very tight race with Republican Knute Buehler.
By Tuesday morning, more than 20 percent of ballots have been returned statewide.
