- On Wednesday morning, May 31, Portland City Council voted to accept a settlement agreement in a lawsuit over sidewalk camping. According to the 10 plaintiffs, the city did not keep public sidewalks clear of homeless encampments which violates the rights of people with disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act. As part of the settlement, the city agreed to maintain an online campsite reporting system as well as one through 311. The city will also remove at least 500 campsites that are blocking sidewalks each fiscal year, pay the plaintiffs $5,000 each in damages, and more. (KGW.com)
- Portland Parks and Recreation announced its "Summer Free for All" program lineup! Free events will take place in July and August at Portland's public parks, including a performance of Purple Reign: The Music of Prince, the East Portland Summer Arts Festival: Celebrating Black Excellence, a screening of "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," and more.
