Portland Dad Convicted Of Threatening To Kill Two DHS Caseworkers
Freddy Velasque-Soto will be sentenced in January after being convicted of threatening to kill DHS workers who wanted to talk about his son.

PORTLAND, OR – On August 14, 2017, two caseworkers from Oregon's Department of Human Services were leaving the home of Freddy Velasquez-Soto on the 500 block of Southeast Morrison. It had been an arranged visit with him to talk about safety planning for his son.
As things wound down, Velasquez-Soto became aggressive.
He stood chest to chest with one of the workers, threatening to cut his face. He told the workers that he would threaten to kill them or anyone who tried to interfere with how he cared for his child.

For his actions, Veasquez-Soto was convicted of menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, and obstructing justice.

The jurors heard how the two caseworkers called 911 and fled through a second story window using a fire escape. They described how they hid until police arrived.
The prosecution was aided by surveillance video that backed up some of what the caseworkers had said.
Velasquez-Soto wil be back in court on January 23, 2019 to learn his sentence.
