Portland Farmers Market to Conclude 'Chef in the Market' Series in October
The Chef in the Market series will be held Fridays throughout October, ending Oct. 22.
Portland Farmers Market is more than a catalyst for a healthy and sustainable food system; it's a venue for education and inspiration.
The market's Chef in the Market series is the latest installment centering on the promotion of local growers and producers. The series offers cooking demonstrations conducted by the state's top chefs and Portland Farmers Market vendors while celebrating height-of-the-season ingredients and educating home cooks. Market-goers can watch professionals transform seasonal produce into simple dishes, with tasting opportunities abound. Presented Saturdays on the center stage at the Portland State University Market, the event kicked off in June and continues through the month of October, each demonstration hosted by an emcee. Newcomers to the lineup included Matt Choi of Choi's Kimchi and the upcoming Heidi Liebowitz of Souper Natural.
"We are happy to welcome local chefs to our market as they prepare height-of-the-season market ingredients to educate and inspire our shoppers," said Kelly Merrick, communications manager for Portland Farmers Market.
