Portland Labor Day 2018: What's Open And Closed In The Area
Schools, banks, and libraries are closed. Parking is free in most of the city except at the zoo, which is open.

PORTLAND, OR – The end of summer is never easy. That's probably why we ease into it with a long weekend.
Monday is Labor Day and while it's a last day off for many for a bit, it also means that many places are closed for the day.

So, here's Patch's guide to what you need to know for Labor Day 2018.
GOVERNMENT OFFICES:

- Federal offices are closed;
- State and local government offices are closed;
- County offices in Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington County are closed;
- Portland city offices are closed;
- Post offices are closed and there is no mail delivery;
- State and county courts are closed;
- Libraries are closed.
NON-GOVERNMENT ESTABLISHMENTS:
Stores are generally open; many have sales;
Banks - most are closed though some branches located in places like supermarkets may be open;
Oregon Zoo will be open;
Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is open.
You're having a BBQ and need to run out at the last minute for a little liquid something extra? The Oregon Liquor Control Commission reminds people that liquor stores have the option to open on Labor Day. Just check OLCC's website.
TRANSPORTATION:
Parking in Portland is free;
Parking at the Zoo, Washington Park, and Willamette Park will all be metered as usual;
TriMet's buses and MAX trains are running on a Sunday schedule;
WES service is not running;
Portland Aerial Tram will be closed;
Portland Street Car is running on a Saturday schedule.
