Portland Man Arrested After Gun Scare At Fred Meyer In NoPo

Callers to 911 said a man was waving a gun. It turned out that David Huntley was waving a holster as if it were a gun.

PORTLAND, OR – Scary times at the Fred Meyer on North Interstate Thursday. Callers to 911 said that a man was waving a gun.

Store employees quickly ushered customers to a back room for safety and then out a door to a parking lot.

Portland Police arrived and while the man was no longer in the store, witnesses were able to provide a description of the man.

Not long after police found a man now identified as 46-year-old David Huntley on the sidewalk not far away.

A member of the community found a black gun holster nearby and police were able to determine that was what Huntley had been brandishing, what people had thought was a gun.

He's charged with menacing, disorderly conduct, trespass, and violating probation for a previous cocaine possession conviction.
