Portland Man Charged With Hate Crime After Threatening Kids: DA`
Michael Amatullo is charged with hate crimes after police say he yelled racist things at a two brothers and threatened them with a knife.

PORTLAND, OR – A 60-year-old man from Southeast Portland was arrested and charged with hate crimes after he allegedly yelled racial comments at a pair of young brothers and then threatened them. Michael Amatullo is charged with intimidation and menacing.
Police say that the incident happened Tuesday afternoon by Amatullo's apartment on the 9200 block of Division Street.
Amatullo, who is white, and the brothers, who are black, live in the same building.

The younger brother, who is 8-years-old, told police that he'd been taking out the trash from his apartment when Amatullo started screaming the N-word and other expletives at him.

The kid's older brother, who is 14-years-old, heard what was happening, stepped between his brother and Amatullo, according to court documents.
Amatullo then allegedly turned his anger at the older brother who told police that he then yelled back.
At that point, police were told, Amatullo told the older brother that if kept it up, he was going to "beat his ass."
Officials say that Amatullo then went into his apartment and returned, threatening to stab the 14-year-old.
The brothers fled and hid under a stairwell and called 911. Amatullo also called 911.
Police arrived, the brothers told their story and Amatullo claimed that he had only gotten the knife to protect himself.
The officer determined the kids were telling the truth and arrested Amatullo.
Court documents say that once in the back of the patrol car, Amatullo started screaming and cursing at them, saying things like "I hope your wife and kids f------ die pig!... Nazi M-F!... Send them all back to the planet of the apes!"
He also allegedly used the N-word repeatedly.
The officer then turn on the patrol car's radio and continued to drive Amatullo to jail.
