Portland Medicaid Provider To Close Business

Three hundred people will lose their jobs and 120,000 patients will have to find care elsewhere if FamilyCare closes.

PORTLAND, OR -- A Medicaid provider in Portland said it will close its business by the end of the month, and 300 of its employees will lose their jobs by January. The Lund Report reported that FamilyCare make its decision to close following a dispute with the state.

"FamilyCare has been engaged in a long-running dispute over the reimbursements it receives from the Oregon Health Authority, and is currently suing the state," The Lund Report wrote.

The nonprofit claims that it is not being reimbursed properly by the state and that it is losing about $75 million, according to the article.
