Portland Police ID Officers, Victim, In Sunday's Fatal Shooting
Portland Police say that the two officers fired at Patrick Kimmons after he pointed a gun at them, firing at him fewer than 10 times.

PORTLAND, OR – The Portland Police officers who shot and killed a man Sunday morning, did so only after having a gun pointed at them. That was one of the details released Monday by the police bureau.
The officers fired fewer than 10 times at 27-year-old Patrick Simmons, according to officials. Kimmons's family said that he'd been hit at least one dozen times.

Portland Police identified the officers as Garry Britt, a sergeant with Central Precinct who has been with PPB for 10 years, and Officer Jeffrey Livingston, who has been with the bureau for around 18 months.
Both have been placed on paid leave while the investigation continues.

The incident happened at 3 a.m. on Sunday. The officers were patrolling near Southwest 3rd Avenue and Harvey Milk Street heard shots, and responded.
The shooting followed..
Police later discovered that two men who were dropped off at Legacy Emanuel in a black Chevrolet Camaro had had am interaction with Kimmons.
One of the men dropped off at Legacy had been shot in the chest.
Police believe that when the officers had heard shots being fired, it was the shooting of the two men.
There names have not been released.
Before police officially identified Kimmons as the shooter, he had been named by friends on social media as 27-year-old Patrick Kimmons, a former Jefferson High School student who was working at Dave's Killer Bread as a baker.
Friends say that he is the father of three.
Court records indicate that he had been been previously convicted of drug and weapons possession as well as witness tampering.
He was the victim of a shooting four years ago.
