Portland Police Officers On Leave After Man Dies At The Hospital
Two Portland Police officers are on leave after a man whom they restrained at SW 6th and Mill later died at the hospital.

PORTLAND, OR – A man is dead and now two Portland police officers are on leave while the the medical examiner tries to figure out why. The man died at a hospital Thursday night after being restrained by the officers who were concerned about his behavior.
The officers had arrived at Southwest 6th and Mill to assist officers from Portland State University who had responded to several reports of a man running through the streets and yelling.
Four Portland State officers had been struggling with the man.

The officers from the Police Bureau restrained the man and, based on his behavior, requested that he be taken to a hospital for evaluation.

While there, he died. Police say that they believed the man had suffered "a medical event."
Portland State University spokesman Kenny Ma says that the four campus police officers involved in the situation have all been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.
One of the officers was treated and released at a local hospital for injuries suffered during the altercation, according to Ma.
After the medical examiner is finished and the investigation is completed, the results will then be forwarded to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, which will decide what to do next.
