Portland Police Shoot Man At Starbucks, They Say He Pointed Gun
Portland Police say they shot a 34-year-old man who pointed a gun at them. It happened at the Starbucks by the Hollywood Fred Meyer

PORTLAND, OR – Portland Police shot and wounded a man Friday afternoon at the Starbucks by the Hollywood Fred Meyer. Police say the man had a gun and was shot as he was threatening employees of the Starbucks.
The 34-year-old man is expected to survive.
Portland Police Chief Danielle Outlaw, responded to the scene, promising a thorough investigation.

"I'm thankful there was no loss of life during this volatile situation," she said. "The Police Bureau is committed to conducting a full and thorough investigation and we will share additional information when appropriate."

Police had arrived at 5:06 p.m. after receiving a call that a man in his 20s was inside, behind the counter, and yelling at employees.
The caller to 911 said that the man appeared drunk. There was no report of a weapon being seen.
As police sped to the scene, they were told that the employees had fled into a bathroom and the man was trying to get inside.
Officials say that arriving officers were confronted by the man who pulled a gun.
Four officers fired shots, hitting the man twice – once when he was inside the Starbucks and once when he was outside.
All four officers are on administrative leave while the investigation takes place.
The man was rushed to the hospital where he is being treated. Once he is released from the hospital, he will be booked into jail.
Police say that the man, whose name has not been released, is a federal fugitive wanted for escape.
