Portland Public Schools Unveils New Plan To Fight Opioid Crisis
The district calls the plan Recovery, Education, and Action for Healthy Living Continuum of Care and will provide a range of options.

PORTLAND, OR – The Portland Public Schools are launching a new plan to tackle the opioid crisis. The plan – called Recovery, Education, and Action for Healthy Living (REAHL) Continuum of Care – will provide a range of options for students.
The plan, developed by a district-wide committee consisting of professionals with different backgrounds, is a 5-year program. The district says that the goal is to provide students with addiction and mental health challenges the tools that they need to hopefully overcome the issues.
The program has four elements: Prevention, Intervention, Treatment, and Recovery.

With each part of the plan, students will work with Qualified Mental Health Professionals that have been hired by the district.

One way those professionals will help is to work with residential treatment facilities to help students transition back to school.
Th district will unveil the program the afternoon of Nov. 1 and this story will be updated.
