Mary's Harvest Products Recalled; May Be Tainted With Salmonella

A possible salmonella and listeria contamination of corn products has forced a Pacific Northwest recall of Mary's Harvest salads and wraps.

PORTLAND, OR — Ready-to-eat salads and wraps sold by Mary's Harvest Fresh Foods, Inc. were recalled this week by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service. USDA officials say roughly 916 pounds of products that contain a corn ingredient may be contaminated with Salmonella and Listeria.

Mary's Harvest, based in Portland, reportedly sold its products through retailers in Oregon, Idaho, and Washington, including Trader Joe's. The products themselves were produced between Oct. 5 and Oct. 13.

The corn supplier initiated the recall Oct. 15 after discovering its product could be contaminated, USDA officials explained, noting there have been no confirmed reports of illnesses or other adverse reactions as a result of consuming the Mary's Harvest products.
