Portland's Branch of the Salvation Army has a program for homeless women in need called SAFES.

The Salvation Army of Portland Female Emergency Shelter (SAFES) provides a safe place to women of Portland who are seeking housing. Their daily needs are taken care of, including from living space, laundry services, showers and bathroom facilities.

SAFES helps women who are homeless by providing a transitional housing option. The day shelter is open from 7 a.m. - 11 p.m, the overnight shelter is open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The program provides onsite support groups and police referrals for emergency shelters and they also supply advocacy and financial assistance for participants.
