Sea Turtle Rescued By Oregon State Police Troopers Near Coos Bay
Oregon State Troopers responded to a report of an injured sea turtle at Horsfall Beach. They found the turtle, its shell cracked.
PORTLAND, OR – Wednesday night, Senior Trooper Mullins and Trooper Cooper of the Oregon State Police were on duty when dispatch told them to head to Horsfall Beach in Coos County. There was a report of an injured turtle that was stranded.
They got there and found a seat turtle lying on the beach.
The turtle's shell was cracked on one side. It was also lethargic because of the low temperatures.

The two gingerly picked up the turtle, put it in their vehicle, and drove it back to their office.

The troopers made a makeshift habitat for the turtle where it rested overnight.
On Thursday, representatives from the Oregon Coast Aquarium and Oregon State University's Hatfield Marine Science Center arrived to take the turtle to their medical facility to make sure that it gets the care that it needs.
Oregon State Police say that if you see a sea turtle on the beach this winter, please call them at 800-452-7888 or *OSP (677) from your cell phone and let them know the turtle's location and condition.
