Secretary Of State Dennis Richardson Gives Update On Brain Cancer

"Some days are harder than others," Richardson says in a video posted on his office's YouTube page. "The tumor has not grown."

PORTLAND, OR – Oregon Secretary of State Dennis Richardson says that the brain tumor he's battling has not grown. Richardson gave the update Thursday in a video posted to his office's YouTube page.

"Some days are harder than others," Richardson says. "The three most recent MRIs shows that the tumor has not grown and I expect similar results from the next MRI."

Richardson disclosed in June that doctors had found a small tumor in his brain.

"I assure you my team and I are not slowing down," he says. "The most challenging effect of my treatment is the fluency of the speech patterns.

"It's frustrating for me when my speech doesn't keep up with my mind but I am sure glad it isn't the other way around."

Richardson, the only Republican in Oregon holding statewide office, has not been making public appearances and has had staff filling in for him at meetings.
