Shooter Arrested In SE Portland: Police

Ronte Richard was arrested early Wednesday after allegedly firing multiple rounds at an unknown target near Lucky Corner Restaurant.

PORTLAND, OR — Police early on Wednesday arrested a man who allegedly fired a handgun near a Southeast Portland restaurant. Portland police say no injuries or property damage occurred as a result of the shooting.

Ronte Deandre Richard, 32, was taken to Multnomah County Jail and charged with unlawful use of a weapon, discharging a firearm within the city, and possession of cocaine. His bail is set at $7,500.

Portland officers from the Bureau's East Precinct were dispatched to Lucky Corner Restaurant at 13604 S.E. Powell Blvd. just before 2 a.m. Aug. 1, after receiving reports of gunfire in the area.

Multiple witnesses at the scene described the suspected shooter to investigators and pointed to his last known location.

After a brief search, officers found Richard across the street from the restaurant — where he was subsequently arrested.

Though investigators reportedly found evidence of gunfire, no property appeared to be damaged and no people were injured.

A K9 searching the area after Richard's arrest found in some nearby bushes the gun allegedly used in the shooting. Officers reportedly believe Richard tossed the gun after firing shots in the area.
