PORTLAND, OR – Mayor Ted Wheeler lost one of his longest serving aides on Friday. Chief of Staff Michael Cox resigned in a two-sentence email sent in the morning.
Cox, who has been with Wheeler for several years, starting when he was his communications director when Wheeler was State Treasurer. He then managed Wheeler's mayoral campaign, became his press secretary, communications director, and then chief of staff.
Wheeler has had a tough time getting his message out in his first two years. Some have blamed Cox for that.
