Here are the top three stories today in Portland:

  1. Mayor Ted Wheeler has announced an Emergency Declaration for the City of Portland due to the winter storm forecast. The extreme cold is expected to last from Wednesday, Dec. 21, through Sunday, Dec. 25. Severe easterly wind gusts of 55 miles per hour are expected to create subzero-like temperatures. (KOIN.com)
  2. Marquis Hammond has been arrested with eight guns and 200 rounds of ammunition in Portland. After stopping a car at 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, an officer made a Driving Uninsured and Driving While Suspended citation and conducted a mandatory search. Under Oregon law, felons are unable to purchase, own, or possess firearms. (KATU)
  3. Linda Wisher, 74, has died after being hit by and dragged by a vehicle on Tuesday evening. Although Wisher was rushed to Salem Health, she was pronounced dead at the hospital. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information on the crash is encouraged to conduct the police. (KOIN.com)
