While Stomsky won, she appeared to lose at least several hundred votes to Dougherty as compared to the mayoral race. Mayor Jeanne Sorg had over 1,300 votes in that race, meaning that a large number of borough residents who voted for Sorg did not follow along party lines to vote for Stomsky.

Original story:
AMBLER, PA — Polls have closed Tuesday night and results for the Ambler tax collector race are beginning to trickle in from around the area.
Controversial incumbent tax collector, Democrat Jennifer Stomsky, has drawn more attention than would otherwise ever be focused on such a small race.
That's due to the sparked national furor sparked by comments that called for political violence in the wake of the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in September.

Stomsky is being challenged by Republican Bernadette Dougherty for the seat. Dougherty is also the Republican candidate in the Ambler mayoral race, where she is challenging longtime incumbent Mayor Jeanne Sorg.

Sorg was among numerous figures on both sides of the aisle who called for Stomsky's resignationafter the comments.
"I’m so tired of being told that violence isn’t the answer," Stomsky wrote in a since-deleted social media post. "I'm so tired of being told we have to be better than the other side...History is filled with blood, so stop being so (expletive) righteous and squeamish, and climb out of the (expletive) pot before it boils you."
Sorg herself called for Stomsky's resignation in a statement at the time.
"Political violence and those who advocate it are an anathema to our nation’s values and to the rule of law," Sorg wrote. "Any public official who irresponsibly makes comments advocating violence and those who support it should resign their offices immediately."
It drew widespread outcry from leaders on the right, particularly after she declined to resign. Stomsky did later apologize, saying the comments were "written in a moment of frustration and were hyperbolic."
A petition calling for her removal from office drew more than a thousand signatories. Stomsky was ultimately removed from a smaller role in the Whitpain Township tax collector's office, but that was fully separate from her position in Ambler.
"We urge Ambler voters to show her the door this November," the Montgomery County Republican Committee shared, calling Dougherty "highly qualified."
Dougherty herself is a former tax collector who was in charge of Ambler Main Street. She has also served on the borough council.
