Hundreds Rally To Remove Montco Official From Office After Charlie Kirk Comments

Her comments, including "history is filled with blood," called for more violence in the wake of Kirk's shooting.

AMBLER, PA — More than 500 people have signed a petition to remove a Montgomery County official from her elected office after comments she made calling for more violence following the killing of Charlie Kirk.

Jennifer Stomsky, the tax collector in Ambler, said she was "tired of being told violence isn't the answer" in a Facebook post. She apologized this week and resigned her position within the Whitpain Township Democratic Party, but infuriated residents and thousands activists from across the Internet who are also calling for her resignation from her Ambler post.

"I'm so tired of being told we have to be better than the other side," Stomsky wrote in the now-deleted post. "History is filled with blood, so stop being so (expletive) righteous and squeamish, and climb out of the (expletive) pot before it boils you."

The comments rapidly spread across social media in the already charged atmosphere that enveloped the nation following Kirk's killing. Republican Montgomery County Commissioner said that people from "all over" had sent him Stomsky's post.

"Over the years we probably all have said things we regret after the fact," DiBello said this week. "I was hoping that was going to occur. But to the best of my knowledge that didn’t happen. I can’t condone any of the words or actions in her posts which include promoting the killing of more people. These statements need to be turned over to the authorities for review. Again I don’t care who you are violence especially political violence can’t be tolerated and most stop."

The Change.org petition was sent to Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro.

"Her disgusting comments are immoral and undermine our values," wrote Heather Miller, who started the petition. "There is no place in our local government for elected officials who promote violence, as she has. She needs to step down as Ambler Tax Collector. Jennifer Stomsky should NOT be trusted to work for the citizens of Ambler."

In her apology, Stomsky said her politics do not influence her work.

"I also want to emphasize that these personal posts do not reflect my role as Tax Collector or the way I serve this community," she said. "In my position, I do not bring politics into my work. I am guided only by the laws and responsibilities of the office, and I treat every resident with fairness, dignity, and respect."

A total of 523 people had signed the petition as of noon Tuesday.
