Montgomery Co. Native To Compete On 'Jeopardy!'

The local resident will represent the Philly region on national television next week.

LANSDALE, PA — A North Penn High School graduate will represent the region on national television in November when he takes the stage on one of the world's most popular game shows, "Jeopardy!"

The contestant is Joe Evans, a 2001 graduate of North Penn who is now a middle school world studies teacher in Montgomery County, Maryland.

He'll appear in the episode set to air on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

To get to this point, he took a qualifying test online and then waited for about two years until he got a call back for an audition, according to Maryland's The Moco Show.

Evans attended North Wales Elementary School and Pennbrook Middle School before heading to North Penn High School.

The district issued a statement of support for Evans, saying his alma mater would be cheering for him.

Evans later went on to receive an undergraduate and graduate degree from Colgate University.

He's now a resident of Beltsville, Maryland, where he lives with his husband Justin Davis and their dog Boomer.
