Whitpain Supervisor Election Dominated By Dems

Four candidates are battling for two open seats on Whitpain's Board of Supervisors.

WHITPAIN TOWNSHIP, PA — Democrats dominated the Whitpain Township Board of Supervisors election Tuesday, according unofficial results, with both blue candidates winning major victories.

Kimberly Koch (5,497 votes) and Robert Brunner (5,017) doubled the totals of John McDevitt (2,515) and Patricia Lorenzo (2,399).

A total of 7 of 12 precincts in Whitpain have reported in, and the race is starting to shape up. Democrats maintain a significant lead.

Montgomery County Commissioner Neil Makhija said the county has received the highest number of mail-in ballots in an odd-year election in history.

The exact number is not yet known, but Makhija said it was more than 88,000.

WHITPAIN TOWNSHIP, PA — Polls have closed Tuesday night and results for the Whitpain Township Board of Supervisors race are beginning to trickle in from around the area.

Four candidates are running for two open seats on the five-person board.

Democrats Kimberly Koch and Robert Brunner are running against Republicans John McDevitt and Patricia Lorenzo.

Koch is the only incumbent out of the group, and currently serves as the vice-chair on the board. She's a 2001 Wissahickon High School graduate with a masters in English from Villanova. For the last 13 years, she's served as a middle and high school teacher in the Central Bucks School District.

Brunner is the current chair of the Whitpain Board of Auditors, a union organizer and leader, and current president of Teamsters Local 169.

McDevitt has a masters in finance from Drexel, and went to undergrad at West Chester. He's the Vice President of Compliance for an investment technology firm, and also serves as treasurer on the local Republican Party committee.

Lorenzo and her family have lived in Blue Bell for 30 years. She studied economics and finance at St. John’s University, and worked as an assistant treasurer at numerous financial firms in Manhattan. She's now semi-retired, and manages a local dentist's office.
