Cresheim Valley Drive Closing For 6 Months Due To Sewer Work

The Philadelphia Water Department said the closure is accommodating work to replace a sewer that was installed in 1890.

A full closure of Cresheim Valley Drive from Germantown Avenue to Cresheim Road/Emlen Street will be necessary during the duration of the project to ensure the safety of workers, drivers, and residents.

While road closures and detours are required, direct impact on nearby residential areas or recreation trails is not anticipated.

Traffic between Lincoln Drive and Cresheim Valley Drive will be detoured to Allens Lane or Mount Pleasant Avenue. The reconstructed Allens Lane Bridge is open and can now be used to access Lincoln Drive.

The project is required to meet Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection regulations, and will replace an existing sewer constructed in 1890.

The new sewer will help improve water quality in Cresheim Creek and Wissahickon Creek.
