FORT WASHINGTON, Pa. — Sixteen cub scouts from Chestnut Hill Cub Scout Pack 1855 toured the TruMark Financial® Credit Union branch located at 8500 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, on Saturday and learned about the history of coins. TruMark Financial representatives discussed the metals used in the manufacturing of coins, reviewed the locations of the United States mint facilities, and identified the people depicted on coins. The group and their parents also learned the difference between a credit union and a bank.

For the scouts, the highlight of the presentation came when Troop Leader Kevin Lemke emptied a bag of coins he saved into the coin machine. The scouts were in awe as they watched the coins spin around and be counted. To seven year-olds, it was magical to see a small plastic bag of coins be transformed into dollar bills.

Each scout received a piggy bank and a coloring book on the importance of saving as a souvenir of their visit. Armed with newfound knowledge, the cub scouts are on their way to earning their coin collecting merit badge.
