How Safe Is Chestnut Hill Hospital? New Patient Safety Grades Released

CHESTNUT HILL, PA — The latest ranking of hospital safety scores has been released, featuring numerous healthcare facilities in the greater Philadelphia area and shedding an updated light on what patients can expect.
The Leapfrog Group’s Spring 2025 Hospital Safety Grades are a biannual ranking that assigns a “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” to all general hospitals in the United States based on their ability to protect patients from medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
Temple Health Chestnut Hill Hospital scored an abysmal 'D' in the latest rankings, one of just 9 statewide to receive the low score. No hospitals received an 'F' this year.

Its poorest marks were on surgical site infection after colon surgery, sepsis infection after surgery, c. diff infection, infection in the blood, harmful events, falls causing broken hips, dangerous blood clots, communication about discharge, handwashing, and nursing and bedside care for patients.
Nearby, Einstein Medical Center Montgomery and Suburban Community Hospital, both in East Norriton, received the top "A" grade. Roxborough Hospital scored an 'A' as well. Jefferson Lansdale received a 'B,' and Phoenixville Hospital a 'C.'
