Rachel Falkove receives Social and Racial Justice Award

The First United Methodist Church of Germantown (FUMCOG), gives Falcove the 2018 Martin Luther King Social and Racial Justice Award.

Mt. Airy resident Rachel Falcove has been active with the Philadelphia Interfaith Hospitality Network (PIHN), for most of its existence, first as a board member, then she felt called to step into the position of executive director in 2001at a time when the agency had a precarious budget and was at risk of closing. She has made the PIHN one of the most respected agencies in the city with a mission of housing families in congregations till proper shelter can be secured for them. Rachel makes sure that a family finds housing in a good school district and finds ways to let the kids know that the door to college will be open for them.

Recently Rachel partnered with Help US Move In to provide family at risk of being evicted with support to keep them from becoming homeless. Rachel has put together a strong staff that gives hope to marginalized families and enable them to break the chains of poverty.

No one better fills King's vision of the beloved community than Rachel Falkove.
