Delco Set, Shot 'Mare Of Easttown' Wins 4 Emmys

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — The grip "Mare of Easttown" had on audiences came to fruition Sunday night when the hit HBO show shot and set in Delaware County took home several awards.

At the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards, stars Kate Winslet, Evan Peters, and Julianne Nicholson each won awards for their acting in the program.

Winslet took home the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. Winslet portrayed Mare Sheehan, a detective in a fictionalized Easttown (which in reality is located in actually in Chester County) investigating a young woman's murder while navigating a tumultuous personal life.

The Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie award went to Winslet's costar and her character's Delaware County detective partner Even Peters. Peters played Detective Colin Zabel, who shares the same last name as State Rep. Mike Zabel (D-Delaware County).

And Julianne Nicholson, who played Mare's friend as Lori Ross, took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. Jean Smart, who played Mare's mother, was also nominated for the same award, but Smart ended up winning Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in "Hacks," another HBO program.

On top of those three major awards, "Mare" won a creative Emmy for its production design.

The Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program (One Hour or More) award went to the team of Keith P. Cunningham, James F. Truesdale and Edward McLoughlin.
